Please refer to the following advice when smudging:
• Open a window or door before you start smudging, allowing the smoke to exit your space.
• Put the sage in or on a non-flammable container (for example a ceramic plate or bowl) and let it burn for several seconds and then blow it out so it keeps smoking. KEEP AWAY FROM FLAMMABLES .
• Set an intention or prayer for the spiritual practice, for example, you might say: “Into this smoke i release all energies that no longer serve me and all negativity that surrounds me”
• Walk into each room you wish to purify and let the smoke enter it. Do NOT allow any space to fill with too much smoke and avoid inhaling it directly.
• Extinguish the smudge stick once you have finished by pressing into sand or earth.
• Do not touch the burning end of the smudge stick. Do NOT leave unattended. Keep out of reach of children and pets.
